Leslye Renée Lopez grew up in central New Jersey, passionate about reading and fine arts. She is a self-taught artist who, as a child, secretly dreamt of living in the Union Square Barnes & Noble bookstore in New York City. She has since made her peace with visiting it from time to time. She was nicknamed ‘bookworm’ at a young age by her older brother and has worn that badge of honor ever since. Leslye holds a B.A. in English, an M.A. in English and Creative Writing, and an M.S. in Strategic Communications.
As Leslye was writing, The Bookstore Adventure: A Nya Sky Story, she became excited at the thought of publishing her work with a small publishing house. Then she thought, why not publish my own book? So she formed her own publishing company, Plan A Publishing House, LLC. Creating art for a living had always been Leslye's "Plan A." Her imprint company, Roy & Rainy Press was created in honor of her parents, C. Roy Epps and Lorraine "Rainey" Garvin.
When Leslye is not writing or reading something, she can be found in a café, independent bookstore, or of course, a Barnes and Noble.
Leslye wrote, designed, and independently published her debut novel, The Bookstore Adventure: A Nya Sky Story (2023). Available in Braille.
